Diocesan Museum
Ultima Cena, arazzo

The Diocesan Museum exhibitsa collection of material from the Cathedral of San Ciriaco and some of the other Churches in town, illustrating the history of Ancona through numerous findings, right from the early Christians; the precious items conserved in the Museum can be interpreted on different levels: aesthetic-artistic, iconogaphic, technical, historical and devotional. Of notable interest is the sarcophagus of San Dasio - a 6th century martyr, the reconstruction of the remains of the Portal of the Romanesque Church of San Pietro, no longer standing due to the irreparable damage caused during the Second World War, and the imposing Flemish made tapestries, portraying the main religious events (the Nativity, the Resurrection, the Assumption).
